Sundong Kwong, Principal of Green Home Consulting, is a Certified Green Building Professional.
Sundong started looking into green remodeling when she wanted to remodel her own home a few years ago. As green remodeling was and still is an emerging field she quickly realized that it is like a giant jigsaw puzzle. Besides, few people knew how to put the pieces together completely.
To investigate further, she attended many professional classes on building science, energy efficiency, indoor air quality, water conservation, sustainable building materials and many other topics that make a home green. She concluded that getting good, unbiased information, taking a holistic approach in planning and doing the renovation steps in the right order are critical for a successful green remodel.
Sundong’s current interest is to help homeowners demystify the complexity of green remodeling and develop an integrated plan. She can provide homeowners perspective that balances health, comfort, life style and budget.
Sundong is a board member of Smart Energy Planet, launch director of the Community Home Energy Retrofit Program (CHERP), member of the US Green Building Council, Passive House California, and Green America. She is also the founder of Green Remodel Forum where she shares her knowledge, and builds a community for homeowners and building professionals interested in greening of homes.
